My role and my compensation
I am an insurance agent. I sell life insurance and annuities. I receive compensation from insurance companies when a person buys a product; that compensation can vary by product and company, which can create an incentive. I do not charge for the consultation.
Not investment, legal or tax advice
The content of this site is educational. I am not an investment advisor and I do not give legal or tax advice. Consult a qualified professional about your situation, including the taxes and penalties that may apply.
About insurance products
- Life insurance and annuities are contracts issued by insurance companies. Their guarantees depend on the terms of the contract and on the claims-paying ability of the issuing company.
- They are not bank deposits, are not insured by the FDIC or any federal agency, and are not guaranteed by a bank.
- Protection from state guaranty associations, if it applies, has limits.
Life insurance and IUL
- Premiums, cost of insurance and charges reduce cash value.
- In an IUL, the interest credit is calculated from an index, but the money is not invested directly in the market. Caps, participation rates and spreads can change and are not guaranteed.
- Loans and withdrawals reduce cash value and the death benefit, and the policy can lapse if the cash value is not enough to pay the costs.
- Illustrations are hypothetical projections, not promises.
Annuities
- Many annuities have surrender charges, limits on free withdrawals and costs for optional benefits.
- The floor on the interest credit and lifetime income are defined by the contract; caps, participation rates, spreads and current rates are not guaranteed.
- Withdrawals are taxed as ordinary income on the gains and, before age 59½, an additional 10% penalty may apply.
Availability by state
I only offer products in the states where I am licensed. Products, their features and their availability vary by state and may not be available in all states.
